25/26 Recital & Chamber Music Schedule
September 6, 2025: Faculty Chamber Music Recital
Finding Equilibrium is a chamber program presented by USF Clarinet Professor Calvin Falwell. The concert will feature Christopher Cerrone’s Nervous Systems for Clarinet and String Quartet and the premiere of Roger Zare’s new work titled Finding Equilibrium for Bass Clarinet and String Quartet. This program also features musicians from the Florida Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra and Sarasota Opera Orchestra. The recital will take place on September 6, 2025 from 2-3 PM in the Barness Recital Hall at the University of South Florida, School of Music.
September 26, 2025: Network for New Music
A celebration of the music of Afro-Cuban composer and guitarist Leo Brouwer. Featuring El Mito de Sísifo for solo guitar and Isla de rojo coral for violin and guitar, with guest artist Matt Kaplan. The program will also include Sones y danzones for piano trio, and two newly commissioned pieces: The Shaman’s Prophecies and Dancing Horizons.The concert will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 7-9 PM at the Esperanza Arts Center in Philadelphia, PA.
December 8, 2025: Ensemble newSRQ
enSRQ’s second concert of the season takes flight with music that sings, soars, and stirs. Reiko Füting’s procession–process:peace weaves fragments of the dona nobis pacem into a meditative journey for strings, clarinet, and piano. Juri Seo’s Songbird lets a lush ensemble of strings bloom with lyrical elegance and subtle dissonance. The evening also features a world premiere from Diallo Banks, written for enSRQ, alongside Michael Ippolito’s Songlines, a string quartet inspired by ancient narratives and imagined journeys. The concert will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 7:30pm at First Congregational Church in Sarasota, FL
February 23, 2026: Ensemble newSRQ
Marking a decade of fearless artistry, enSRQ looks back on the works that have inspired both musicians and audiences over the past ten years—while also showcasing exciting new voices. Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte reframes the elegance of classical form through a contemporary lens. A new co-commission from Che Buford arrives as part of the Cross-Country Chamber Consortium, brimming with fresh ideas and vivid color. Roger Zare’s Finding Equilibrium, a world premiere, pairs string quartet with bass clarinet in a balance of lyricism and energy. Closing the evening, Kevin Puts’ And Legions Will Rise sends violin, clarinet, and marimba into an exhilarating, uplifting culmination. The concert will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 7:30pm at First Congregational Church in Sarasota, FL
March 21, 2026: Northeastern Pennsylvania Chamber Music Society
A concert featuring the Brahms Clarinet Quintet and Roger Zare’s new work, Finding Equilibrium. The concert will take place on Friday, March 21, 2026 at 7 PM at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral 35 South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, United States.
May 22, 2026: Ensemble newSRQ
Matt Aucoin’s Music for New Bodies, created in collaboration with acclaimed director Peter Sellars, is a bold meditation on our shifting place in the natural world. Fusing poetic texts from Jorie Graham with visceral soundscapes, Aucoin crafts a work that is at once urgent and transcendent, while Sellars’ visionary staging brings the music into striking visual focus. Together, they invite us to imagine new forms of life, connection, and transformation. The concert will be held on Monday, May 22, 2026 at 7:30pm at the Sarasota Opera House in Sarasota, FL
